Ok...not great...just ok.

Needed a small set of powered speakers with Bluetooth primarily for streaming music and listening to some old CDs we have. Not a huge room so wanted something compact with good enough sound. Don't need huge volume, mostly background music. These are good looking speakers and definitely compact. Don't need a standalone amp and a not a lot of money. Fast delivery. Fit the needs.Sound is so-so. Definitely better bookshelve options available, but most not bluetooth and you'll need a amp of some sort. And will be more expensive. They have this feature called Soundfield Spacializer, but oddly they make no mention of what its purpose is in the instructions? Google suggests its for a more enhanced sound if close up such as using as computer speakers. In a small to medium room, they really don't offer any sound improvement. You can hear a difference,...just not better or worse. With it turned on the sound is a bit sharper but lacks base. In general they really lack base in both modes, which is understandable considering the size. Not super sharp sound but they work like cheap computer speakers, which they basically are.I've ordered the subwoofer and possibly when it arrives, they'll be a bit better. Im happy with them as is, just not thrilled. No wow impact.Edit: Bought the Edifier subwoofer and the speakers sound much better now that they have some bottom end. Oddly, the wood grain finish is totally different on the subwoofer and speakers. No big deal...just a bit odd.

Audiophile approved for less than audiophile anything

Was researching quality budget compact speakers for a garage turned into a hang out room. Budget was a concern since someone else was purchasing them. I've been an audiophile for decades and love doing research, and these Edifiers popped up time and again. List price is already low, but these are frequently on sale too.If you take the time to set them up properly (how wide apart they are, toe-in, etc, as well as the treble and bass controls) they are, in a word, amazing. Not just amazing for the price (although certainly that) but seriously impressive. I've got them around 8' apart and my main listening position is about 10' away. You can see this in my pic. Despite having them *inside* bookcases and zero room treatment of any kind, I get good soundstage width and depth, focussed center imaging and impressive bass for their size and woofer diameter. You can be one and done there. However, I highly recommend getting the matching T5 sub to take advantage of that sub-out option on the back. The T5 brings the bass, and the whole enchilada. I can play any genre of music, including bass-heavy, and this trio sounds superb and can hit HARD. I also have to give kudos to the tweeter and midrange drivers on these. Not the last word in anything, but they work splendidly in all genres regardless. The cohesion, non-fatigue factor and nice full midrange just project sound that belies what the speakers look like. I can turn this little system up to the point where the entire garage sounds like a concert or a club, and they don't break a sweat.TL;DR: Coming from an audiophile, I'm highly, highly impressed with these speakers, and not just for the money. Add the T5 sub and give setup some thought and time, and you've got a system that you won't believe how good it sounds, especially considering the prices.

Wow! For the price, they’re fantastic.

I didn’t want to spend thousands on a decent speaker set. These sound fantastic considering the budget price point. I do not listen to too much bass heavy music but the bass is clean on these. Mids, highs, it all sounds clean and crisp. Incredibly happy with these. Build quality is fantastic as well.

Good Sound for Price; Initial Connectivity Issues

Difficulty in marrying to PC. I have an HP Desktop and Windows 11. Once connected,, I placed main unit on a side desk about three feet to left of my ear and the other one on main desk equal distance from right ear. For price, sound is excellent. I was looking for "easy listening," not professional use. I did have to purchase separate longer connect cords. If you need to do hide your cords, be sure to measure length from top of each surface to floor, distance around the wall on the floor between the units and add 2-3 feet for slack. One thing I should add: these ads for "wireless" speakers are misleading. Yes,, it's wireless between the PC or other input and the main speaker, but the remote has to be connected by cable.

Sound and look awesome for the price!

My Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 started to fail after eighteen years of daily use, and I had been eyeing Edifier for a while. These Edifier R1700BTs sound and look a lot better than the Klipsch. The highs are crisp and clear with no back ground hiss or static. Mids are perfect, but they do lack just a bit on the low end. I've been using these in a fairly large room for music and gaming and they perform great. I gave them a few days of low volume break in and the sound improved since. I'm currently looking to buy the Edifier T5 subwoofer to get a bit more bass, mostly for games. If you're not big on deep bass, these are great on their own.

with these speakers, you will hear just how great your music can sound

These speakers are wonderful. They can play loudly without any noticeable distortion, just with beautiful sound. They can play softly, and I still can hear all the detail that I could not hear with my prior speakers. I have them connected directly to my turntable and also directly to my Blu-ray player, which I use for playing CD's. Also, I Bluetooth music to the speakers, from my phone. I highly recommend this model of the speakers. I think the Bluetooth option is important. I don't use the subwoofer connection, but I might use it one day. They look really good, and they sound great. Also, I had a question for the manufacturer, and they answered it clearly and promptly.

Amazing Speakers. Amazing Price.

Can't recommend these speakers enough. Love the Edifier brand, they are super reliable and I know a bunch of friends who have them and was put on them by said friends. None of us have had any issue with any of the speakers ever. The volume is more than you will need, and they make listening to music and watching movies a wonderful experience. They look great on my desk and don't take up much space.

feel slightly overpriced.

While they perform well for casual listening, limitations in connectivity and control make them feel slightly overpriced.Pros:Solid Sound Quality: Clear mids and highs with a decent bass response. They work particularly well as surround or TV speakers.Stylish Design: The wood finish and compact build make them look great in most setups.Multiple Input Options: Bluetooth, AUX, and optical inputs provide flexibility in device connection.Built-in Amp: No need for an external amplifier, which is great for plug-and-play use.Cons:No App Support: These don’t connect to Edifier’s app, limiting customization and remote control options. No Multi-Speaker Linking: You can’t pair them with other Edifier speakers to create a multi-room or true surround setup.Remote Dependency: You must use the remote to switch inputs (e.g., between Bluetooth and TV), which is inconvenient if the remote is lost or out of reach.Price Point: For the current price, they lack smart features and expandability found in competing speakers. If they were $30–$50 cheaper, they’d be an easy 5-star product.Final Thoughts:These are decent speakers with good sound, but feel a bit limited for the price. They’re best suited for a dedicated TV or small entertainment setup. If you're looking for smarter, more versatile speakers, you might want to keep shopping — unless these go on sale.

These are great

I did a lot of research to determine these would be great desktop speakers.  I could have gotten higher end audio but not at this price point and cabinet size.  The bluetooth connectivity is spot-on consistent, every day.  The sound is excellent especially for the price.  They look great as well and are high quality.  I didn't get the sub with this on purpose. I will probably get the sub but really, I don't need it for the sound i need for a working environment.  Build quality:Excellent! The wood is beautiful.Remote control:Works perfectly and is easy to control.Bluetooth connectivity:Works flawlessly connecting either phones, tablets, but most importantly, my Lenovo laptop every day without problem.Ease of setup:Was super easy out of the box to setup.

They look good and sound even better

I have used these for 4 years and felt in this moment, while listening to Justice on vinyl, compelled to leave a review. I initially bought these to be a sleek speaker pair for my budding synthesizer setup; they excelled in that context with delightful punch and balance. Then I got asked to DJ a wedding on 24 hours notice. It was in another state and at a small, outdoor venue (think courtyard). I took these speakers in my suitcase and they filled the space amazingly well. The maid of honor—my good friend and live music aficionado—told me the speakers sounded remarkably good... and I agreed. These speakers are lookers and they also perform. They are now the speakers I have hooked up to my record player and, in conjunction with my turntable, they have revealed new depth to songs I enjoy (no lie; I heard some dude parts on The Marias - Cinema that I hadn't noticed before).Overall, highly recommend for almost any use. If you need studio monitors, I would look elsewhere. But if you are looking for listening speakers in a small-to-medium-sized space, these are phenomenal.

Absolutely fantastic speakers for the price

I initially had these speakers paired with my PC for Spotify listening and gaming mainly. They were plugged directly into the motherboard. I also used them with a laptop. They sounded good, but never blew me away. They were always good enough and loud enough but nothing special. Well, let me tell you how things changed dramatically when I paired these speakers with a 32-bit DAC and a Tidal subscription. They came to life. The amount of bass that comes out of them, without adjusting the knob at all, is crazy. It's full, rich, and warm. The full bodied sound and impact these speakers have now that they are paired with a high quality DAC and high bitrate songs can be breathtaking. Yes, I also paired them with an Edifier sub and just forget it. They're even more amazing. I can't stress enough how good these speakers sound for the money when you pair them with high quality audio files and a DAC. Yes, they are good with basic sound outputs, but they truly come to life when you pair them with higher quality hardware and music files. With a subwoofer, you will bring down the house. No joke. I can't imagine any other speaker set being as good as these for the money. I'm not a huge fan of the looks, as I would prefer all black, but the sound quality is worth it. If you're thinking about it, I say get them, but keep in mind that they truly won't come to life without at least a minimum Tidal subscription or other lossless audio streaming. If you can get a good DAC or already have one, then you're in for a treat.

Really nice, and worth the extra $'s for the subwoofer out.

I had purchased a small pair of Edifier bluetooth computer speakers, that were just what I needed, but the permanently attached cables that limited them to being 5ft apart didn't work for me, so I returned them and upgraded to these at 2x the price. These speakers are overkill for what I need, but man do they sound good. I opted for these vs a cheaper set because they had a subwoofer out option. Glad I did. An old Cambridge Soundworks subwoofer I had works with these. These speakers sound great on their own, but the subwoofer pushes them over the top. The sound becomes more three dimensional and room filling. The bluetooth works great with all my devices so far, and the included remote is a nice touch. The included cable to connect the left speaker is long and will accommodate just about any placement you have in mind. The speakers came packed really well, kudos to Edifier on that. Definitely seems like a premium product. The only criticism I have is minor. I wish they had a separate knob for selecting between inputs. I don't like multi function buttons, where you have to push and hold for one thing, and quick pushes for others. The remote mitigates that annoyance. These are substantial speakers, so if your looking for something small, these might not be for you.If I have problems, I'll update this review, but so far so good. Excellent speakers for someone needing self-powered bluetooth capable speakers. The subwoofer out for only $10 more than the ones without it is worth it, imo. Much more versatile and room filling if you have a subwoofer laying around, or would like to add one later.

For the money, these are fantastic

I wasn't sure what to expect. I'm kind of a snob when it comes to audio. I was pleasantly surprised. Are they going to replace larger, floor standing speakers? No. And bass would be better with a subwoofer, but for their size, and especially their price, these are great little speakers with excellent clarity and surprising bass. I'm using them on my PC. I tweaked the sound a bit with the EQ in my music app to better match my taste, but even without doing that they still sound nice. They also sound better after breaking them in for a week or so (not uncommon for speakers). I was also surprised by the width of the sound stage these provide at their price level. It's not what I wanted them for, but these would probably be an excellent upgrade for a TV, because vocals are extremely crisp and balanced. (My EQ adjustments toned them down a bit for my musical taste.) I got them on sale, but even at their regular price, they're not a bad buy. I don't really like the remote control, but I never really intended to use it anyway. It's tiny and cheap-feeling and has to be pointed right at the speakers. The only thing I wish these would do is play Bluetooth and wired input at the same time, so I could be playing music from my phone and still get computer sounds. You have to switch between Bluetooth and the two wired inputs. The LED (which is hidden behind the speaker grill and shines through it) is blue on Bluetooth, and green on the wired inputs. Oh, that's another thing. It would be nice if the LED was a different color for each wired input, but you can learn how many taps (1 or 2) between Bluetooth and each wired input. No biggy, but since they are using a multi-colored LED anyway, it just seems to make more sense to have each input be it's own color.
